Project information systems: qualatiy assurance linked to information technology

Abstract: The construction industry, slow to react to mmagernent initiatives in the past must now rapidly adapt to the emerging technologies that are being implemented in industry world wide. This paper provides an intrduction to the concept af quality assusmce and examines the implementation of quality management systems within the design and construction industry. By looking at the requirements for a quality system md its application to this industry, there emerges a need to document and control the flow of information, resulting in the project information system. The emerging information technologies can be linked with the development of quality itssumce to provide an enhanced project information system through the lifecycle of a facility.
