Airport terminal simulation model; an object oriented approach

Abstract: This paper describes the result of a research project which was initiated to develop an object-oriented airport terminal simulation model. The simulation model comprises a set of simple submodels and nodes which can be explored and modified to fit any airport terminal. The terminal operator would be able to interactively run the model and collect the desired statistics about predefined performance measures. The model has also a good animation capability and a built-in graphics to display the statistics. The object-oriented simulation model is user friendly and it may be used as an operations tool for the airport manager or operating staff to help them to maintain a reasonable level of service throughout the terminal.
