Managing and exploiting knowledge assets in the construction industry

Abstract: This paper reviews knowledge-based and decision support techniques in the construction industry with a view to highlighting how construction organisations can exploit knowledge as an asset. It introduces Knowledge Management and Decision Support Techniques and provides information on example applications that demonstrate their use in construction and nonconstruction sectors. Guidelines for deciding on the suitability of knowledge-based techniques for solving a given problem are provided.
