| Summary: | The paper describes the underlying architecture of an object-oriented computer program for embedded retaining wall design. The requirements of different codes of practice are implemented in a series of classes derived from an abstract base class Designstandard. Two intermediate classes define the particular features of limit-state and working-stress design standards. Each concrete class in the hierarchy represents a single code of practice. The paper explains how the program routes its calculations to the relevant derived class. |
