Summary: |
Careful maintenance is essential to ensure the long-term serviceability of bridges. It is thereforenecessary to establish a database which has a large capacity for storage of time-series dataincluding structural properties at construction completion, inspection records, and repair andmaintenance records, and which utilizes state-of-the-art information and telecommunicationtechnologies to allow such data to be retrieved anytime and also anywhere [1]. This paper outlinesa web-based database system developed in response to this demand. Utilizing datatelecommunication technologies such as the Internet and cellular phones which are rapidlybecoming prevalent, the system is designed to facilitate bridge maintenance in a cost-effectivemanner [2]. |
