Paper title: Organisation Structure, Management Style and IT The Case of Hong KongChinese Building Companies
Authors: Tat N H, Lansley P
Summary: The paper reports a study of how managers of Hong Kong Chinesebuilding firms have changed their styles of management and the organisationof their firms in response to the introduction of information technology. Insome cases these changes have been quite marked and have led to the erosionof the role and influence of middle managers as information has become morereadily available to senior and lower level managers. The study suggests thatthe conflicts between traditional management philosophies and those requiredof IT can be resolved and used to strengthen commitment to organisationalperformance.
