Summary: |
Improving the quality of residential design is currently a research focus inBritain. However, little work has been done on the strategic use of IT topromote innovation in the British housebuilding industry. Advancedcomputer techniques can greatly facilitate the visualisation and appraisal ofalternative design. The potential of virtual reality as a design andvisualisation tool warrants consideration. Drawing on development workand an industrial survey of British house builders, a framework for theimplementation of virtual reality is developed. This is discussed within thecontext of the house building process and housing developers' current use ofIT for design and visualisation. |
